Alexander Tsiurupa

(1870 – 1928)
The Soviet state and party leader.

Alexander Tsiurupa was born and educated in Kherson. For his freedom-loving views was repeatedly arrested and in exile. Later was rehabilitated and during the period of Soviet Ukraine held high public office.

At various times was President of the USSR State Planning Committee and Commissar of Foreign and Domestic Trade of the USSR.

Is known as the author of putting into a country of food dictatorship, imposed by the decree of the Central Executive Committee on May 13, 1918 (one of the organizers of the requisition).

He was cremated, his ashes is placed in an urn in the Kremlin wall on Red Square in Moscow.
His name was named regional centre in the Kherson region.
